Dave Moss, incoming executive director of Oregon’s Eugene Symphony.

The Eugene Symphony in Oregon has appointed Dave Moss as executive director, effective on January 2, 2024. He will succeed Scott Freck, who has served as the orchestra’s executive director for 11 years. Moss was most recently the president and CEO of the Hawai’i Symphony Orchestra (HSO), which he joined in March of 2020. He is credited with strengthening HSO’s finances, increasing foundation and individual support, diversifying programing, developing more community-based opportunities outside the concert hall, and helping to secure Dane Lam as music director. Moss was previously executive director of Haymarket Opera Company in Chicago. A violist, Moss performed at venues including Disney Concert Hall, Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden, and Coachella, and performed with The Who, Kayne West, Itzhak Perlman, Renee Fleming, and the Broadway production of Hamilton. Moss holds degrees from the University of Chicago, the Juilliard School, and Oberlin College and Conservatory of Music. At the Eugene Symphony, he will collaborate with Music Director Francesco Lecce-Chong. He will also work alongside the orchestra’s Music Director Search Committee as it seeks Lecce-Chong’s successor.
